Arising from a successful book launch event in Rwanda, the brainstorming Q&A session triggered a coalition of readers, fired up for fresh engagements and another launch for the two new book titles, this time, wider and elaborate.
The event represented an educational fire-up that awakens the curiosity of the attendees. The event’s Chief Launcher, Ms Kenyah; Lambert, the lead organiser, and Marlon, the moderator, quickly went into a full active operation, setting up the objectives and making contacts for a more inclusive launch of "Don't Just Assume" & "The Survival Pressure" titles.
Tagging the launch a mini-event, Kelechi quickly fired up the national vibe and engagement drive for the attendees. Never have I witnessed such an active set of professional enthusiasts, hunting for knowledge with strong emotions, and positively engaged in love, quest, and passion for nation-building.
The event seemed like an amazement at how a foreign author could aptly write about their national experience, their pressure moments in history, national healing, and unified identity, with hope for a more prosperous future.
A visit to the unforgettable 1994 genocide memorial centre was quite revealing, and it was reflective of the two new books' qualitative content. With a brief video clip lecture before the tour of the site, the writings on the pods were either: ”Yes! Lambert, I have this one in the new book, or “Ohh, No, this one isn't there yet“ but never mind, we will update shortly.
Seeing the photos and the untimely graves of over a million people was in my head, another “Valley of dry bones” The emotions of the tourists were palpable, and overwhelming, a grave site is never a place of laugher Or selfie gigs.
With the spirit of "Consider It Done" in full gear, the team quickly drafted an MOU and made all our books available for purchase at major Kigali bookstores and libraries, enacting a project the Chief Launcher refers to as the "Association of Community Readers", a reading NGO hub for the East African frontier. Rwanda is fired up. Trust me!
When the passion for country-hood calls for a display, give it to the Rwandans. Yes! For example, exactly as it was in the biblical Babylon, each foreign citizen, by default, has a Rwandan name, a smart strategy for inclusion to promote oneness, national unity, integration, and healing for historical hurts. I don't know my own name yet, but I trust those folks will be preparing one.
Anyway, Lambert, I am awake, I’ve had enough rest, let‘s go and see the NGO, understand?
